Bahawalpur police on Friday arrested four people for not providing the cash disbursements despite taking signatures and thumb imprints from the people eligible for the aid under Ehsaas Cash Emergency Programme – an initiative launched by the government to facilitate the impoverished segment of the society during coronavirus lockdown.
According to the police officials, they have registered a case against three employees of a private bank for not allocating funds to the people although they stood eligible for the government aid.
The police added that around 29 CNICs were obtained from the accused, while another person was arrested for fobbing a woman with 11,500 instead of giving the designated amount of Rs12,000.
On the other hand, the police took action against illegal agents involved in the fraudulent transactions under Ehsaas programme.
According to SSP Hassan Sardar Niazi, 10 suspects have been arrested as a result of raids at various places and action has been taken against those employees who charge Rs500 to Rs1,000 from the deserving candidates of the programme with a fake promise to speed up their payment process.
