SBP launches Asaan Mobile Account

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has launched the Asaan Mobile Account (AMA), a digital wallet that enables individuals to perform a wide range of transactions using a simple mobile phone, reported 24 News HD TV Channel Wednesday.
According to details, PTA and UK's Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office are partners of the SBP in designing AMA that will allow individuals an easy gateway to mobile payments in Pakistan without having a smartphone or internet connectivity.
AMA is an important initiative under the National Financial Inclusion Strategy.
According to the State Bank, its aim is to help the underbanked deal with financial problems by providing them with easy, affordable, and digital access to financial services. SD code*2262# will be obtained by dialing.
Mass media campaign to be launched by State Bank will create general awareness about AMA, its easy use, and its associated benefits. It has also said that the unbanked people will be encouraged to join the formal financial network and apart from Urdu, this campaign will also be conducted in regional languages, so as to reach more people and create awareness among all Pakistanis across the country.
