As the weather experts have foreseen a heavy monsoon spell, health professionals have advised precautionary measures to combat rain-related illnesses.


Heavy rain accompanied by wind and thunderstorms was expected during the next 24 to 48 hours in Lahore, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Murree, Galiyat, Jhelum, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, Faisalabad, Sahiwal and Gujrat.


Stagnant water may lead to the breeding of dangerous breeds of mosquitoes that can spread different infections, thus it is necessary to take certain precautions to keep your family safe while enjoying the monsoon to the fullest. Water-borne diseases are the most common during this season.


Doctors place stress on drinking clean and boiled water. Infections and viruses that are caused during this season can be contagious and can lead to problems such as fever, flu and stomach issues.

Health experts suggest avoiding street food and junk food. It is best to avoid such foods as they are kept in the open and are vulnerable to harmful microorganisms. The experts advise avoiding stagnant water around the house and washing fruit and vegetables carefully to avert health hazards


Late working hours or unhealthy sleeping habits disrupt immunity and can increase the chances of contracting flu and cold-like symptoms during the monsoons. It is recommended to clock in 6 to 8 hours of sleep every night to help boost your immunity and stay healthy during rainy spells.


Even though activities such as walking, skipping, yoga, cycling or running can be hampered during the monsoon don’t let this season dampen an exercise routine. While exercising not only helps you stay in shape, it also maintains your immunity, improves blood circulation and fortifies your body against viruses and bacteria.


It is important to wash hands before every meal, especially after coming home from outside. This is necessary because harmful germs tend to multiply during the monsoon.
