On Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s instructions, the party is holding protest demonstrations across the country today (Friday) against inflation, particularly hike in petrol prices, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Besides four provinces of the country, demonstrations are also taking place in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB).
The party plans to hold protest demonstrations against the gas crisis next week, on Friday (December 17).
Bilawal will announce the schedule of next series of protests at the PPP’s public gathering to be held at Garhi Khuda Bux on the eve of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto’s 14 death anniversary (December 27).
The PPP chairman had given the call for today’s protests at the party’s public gathering held in Peshawar on November 30.
PPP workers (jiyalas) held a sit-in at the party’s bastion, Larkana in Sindh.
The workers blocked the Ratodero road for traffic and raised slogans against the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government.
They did not restrict themselves to the denunciation of soaring petrol prices, but also vent their anger at unemployment as well as what they alleged ‘injustices’ done to Sindh by the present government.
A rally was taken out at Jaafarabad in neighbouring Balochistan, which eventually turned into a jalsa.
Speaking on the occasion, PPP Balochistan President Mir Changez Khan Jamali said that the present government had failed to provide relief to the masses as inflation and unemployment were at their peak.
