Former foreign minister and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, who has suffered defeat at the hands of PML-N’s Ataullah Tarar in NA-127, Lahore, has called the party’s meeting at Bilawal House in Lahore today in the evening, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
Quoting its sources, the channel reported that Bilawal was not pleased at all with the way the party’s local leadership ran the campaign in the constituency.
They informed that the PPP chairman had even sought a report on his defeat in the constituency.
Sources disclosed that challenging the election results in the court would also come under discussion at the meeting.
Furthermore, they revealed, the PPP leaders would also hold consultations over convening the party’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting to discuss the meeting of the party leaders with those of the PML-N yesterday.
Sources said that the CEC meeting could be called in a few days from now.
Apart from that, they informed, keeping in view disappointing results for the party in the general elections from Punjab, the party’s reorganization in the province was also on the cards.
Bilawal’s dream to win an election from Lahore was shattered when he was defeated by PML-N’s firebrand leader Attaullah Tarar who secured 98,210 votes.
PTI-backed independent candidate Zaheer Abbas Khokhar got 82,230 votes and stood at the second position.
The PPP chairman, on the other hand, could get only 15,005 votes and lost the seat with a huge margin.
