No compromise on safety of Chinese citizens, says Interior Minister

Federal Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi chaired a meeting of the Core Committee on the security of Chinese citizens on Wednesday and emphasised that there will be no compromise or negligence in their protection.


According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the meeting was attended by the Federal Secretary of Interior, Secretary of Defence, National Coordinator of the National Counter Terrorism Authority Pakistan (NACTA), Coordinator of the National Action Plan (NAP), and senior officials from law enforcement agencies. 


Chief Secretaries, Inspectors General of Police, and home secretaries of all provinces, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan participated in the meeting via video link.


The meeting conducted a comprehensive review of the security arrangements for Chinese citizens across the country. 


Addressing the meeting, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi stressed the importance of completing the security audit of Chinese citizens within the stipulated timeline.


The interior minister said the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the security of Chinese citizens have been prepared in consultation with all relevant agencies. 


He urged all related organisations to collaborate and ensure 100% implementation of the new SOPs.


The minister also invited field agencies to provide further recommendations, which the Core Committee would review and implement if they offer potential improvements. 


Chief Secretaries and IGs of Police briefed the meeting on the measures taken to protect Chinese citizens.
