Food Safety teams dispose of thousands of kilos of fake tea in Lahore

Food Safety teams in a raid on a fake tea manufacturing unit near China Scheme in Lahore on Monday arrested its owner besides disposing of 6,000 kilos of tea leaves worth millions of rupees, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The teams also confiscated the machinery besides all manufactured and raw materials.

According to the DG Food Authority Asim Javed, the raid was conducted on complaints that prohibited flavours and colours were being used in tea production.

“When our teams went to the processing zone, they were stunned to see flies, cockroaches and mosquitoes there besides a bad smell emanating from the washroom situated inside the zone.
