Second consignment of relief goods sent for flood victims of Afghanistan

On the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has sent the second consignment of relief goods for the people affected by floods in Afghanistan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
Carrying tents, bags of flour, rice and sugar, a Pakistan Airforce plane left for the Afghan city of Mazar-i-Sharif last night (Monday).
The first consignment of relief items had been sent on May 7.
Four days ago, on May 6, 2022, Pakistan had expressed solidarity with the people of Afghanistan over the loss of precious lives and the devastation caused by flash floods.
In a statement, the Foreign Office had said that the government and the people of Pakistan pray that may The Almighty Allah grant patience and fortitude to the bereaved families to bear the irreparable loss.
It further said Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif had also expressed solidarity with the Afghans in the hour of need and promised relief assistance.
Flooding and storms in 12 provinces killed nearly 22 people and injured 40, according to Afghanistan’s National Disaster Management Authority.
