The cabinet of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) unanimously approved the summoning of the Pak Army into the province in view of the emergency situation.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, KP Minister for Information Barrister Feroz Jamal Kakakhel said the cabinet meeting reviewed the current security situation of the country and the province.
After a detailed consultation, he said the cabinet members approved the summoning of the Pak Army under Article 245 and requested the federal government to prevent the situation from getting worse in the province.
Since the last day, in the violent protests in different districts of the province, public properties and sensitive installations have also been damaged, the minister said.
He said a peaceful protest is the right of all citizens but violating the law, and damaging important government facilities is beyond comprehension.
The minister said the caretaker cabinet members condemned the violent protests.
To save the province from further damage, all the members have unanimously called in the Pakistan Army, he added.
In the cabinet meeting, the actions and performance of KP Police to control the situation in the province were appreciated and tributes were paid to all the police personnel.
The KP information minister said PTI Chairman Imran Khan's arrest orders were issued by the court, so they should fight this battle in the courts and must not push the country into a further economic crisis by damaging public property.
