Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has strongly condemned the firing on police posts and attack on Punjab police officers and personnel by PTI protesters.

CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif expressed deep grief over the firing on a police constable.

In her statement, Maryam Nawaz said it is regrettable that more than 20 police personnel including SP, DSP and SHO were injured in the attacks.

Maryam Nawaz said the protesters were also seen with short machine guns, tear gas, knives and masks etc.

The protesters used weapons that only the police have in their possession in the attacks on the Punjab police, Maryam Nawaz said.

She said the protesters opened fires at Ghazi Barutha, Mianwali, Hazara Motorway and other places.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif said the Punjab police had been kept unarmed earlier to avoid clashes and it is still unarmed.

More than 25 policemen were martyred in previous protest of PTI, Maryam Nawaz said.

She said the attack of the police of one province on another province using government resources is tantamount to tearing apart national unity.

What kind of protest is this where government resources are being used? Instead of a protest, this movement is an attempt at armed terrorism, Maryam Nawaz Sharif said.
