JUI-F to raise 24NewsHD TV suspension in Senate

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) Secretary-General Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri has announced raising suspension of 24NewsHD TV channel’s transmission in the Senate, National Assembly and the provincial assemblies.

The JUI-F will submit condemnation resolutions in the Senate, National Assembly and provincial assemblies.

“24NewsHD TV channel has always unearthed corruption and incompetence of the government,” Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri said.

He said, “JUI-F will not tolerate any attack on the freedom of the press at any cost. With the suspension of 24NewsHD TV channel, other channels have also been facing intimidation.”

The JUI-F secretary-general said: “We have not seen a ban for such a long time in the history of the media industry as it has been more than 70 days now. The JUI-F will continue to raise this issue in Parliament till restoration of 24NewsHD TV channel’s transmission.”

Moreover, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) Secretary Information Iqbal Awan condemned the ban on 24NewsHD TV channel and said the incumbent government has damaged the media industry the most.

Separately, Islamabad Capital Development Association (CDA) Officers Association condemned the closure of 24NewsHD TV channel.

CDA Officers Association Senior Vice-President Chaudhry Kamran Bakht said: “We strongly condemn the closure of 24NewsHD TV channel and urge the government to restore the channel transmission immediately.”
