The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has launched an investigation into the assets of former inspector general of Sindh Prisons Nusrat Mangan.
There are reports that NAB has traced Mangan’s over Rs7 billion assets so far and now verification of these assets is underway. Mangan retired from the government service this year. During his service, he spent most of his time serving at Karachi’s Central Jail. He has been facing frequent allegations even during his years in service.
The NAB has sought a report from the Thatta deputy commissioner for verification of the land allegedly owned by Mangan. Mangan and his family members reportedly own 96 acres of land in the Thatta District. The NAB has also summoned the details of Mangan’s official accounts and the ones he has with private banks.
Mangan also operates an account in a private bank that is active under the title of Pir Sarmad. According to sources in the NAB, multimillion rupees were transferred from the bank account of Pir Sarmad to the bank account of Nusrat Mangan, who also owns a CNG gas station in Ranipur.
