Pakistan's President Arif Alvi showed his deep remorse over the death of Father of Pakistan’s nuclear programme, Dr Abul Qadeer Khan saying he was deeply saddened to learn about his passing. He said that DR AQ Khan helped us develop nation-saving nuclear deterrence and a grateful nation would never forget his services, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
President Alvi posted a tweet on Sunday and wrote: “Deeply saddened to learn about the passing of Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan. Had known him personally since 1982. He helped us develop nation-saving nuclear deterrence, and a grateful nation will never forget his services in this regard. May Allah bless him.”

Prime Minister Imran Khan also expressed his deep sorrow on the demise of Dr Qadeer paying him glowing tribute and declaring him a national icon who provided Pakistan security against an aggressive and much larger nuclear neighbour India.
In his tweet on Sunday, Prime Minister Khan said: “Deeply saddened by the passing of Dr AQ Khan. He was loved by our nation because of his critical contribution in making us a nuclear weapon state. According to a press release of the ISPR, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and all Services Chief expressed their deep grief over the sad passing away of Dr AQ Khan eulogizing the tremendous services of the towering scientist who made Pakistan’s defence invincible.
Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa prayed for the departed soul wishing may Allah grant him highest ranks.
PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari while expressing his regret on the demise of Dr AQ Khan said that his services to the nation were invaluable. He condoled with the family of the late scientist and prayed for the forgiveness of the soul.
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi expressed his deep sorrow over Dr Qadeer’s death. He said Dr AQ Khan was a great man and he was a true patriot. His services would be remembered for a long time.
In its tweet, Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesperson wrote: “Deeply saddened at passing away of national hero Dr AQ Khan. Great loss. Invaluable contributions for Pak. Heartfelt condolences to family members and friends. RIP”

PML-N Supremo Nawaz Sharif expressed his great sorrow over the demise of Dr AQ Khan in his tweet saying that he was saddened to hear the news. He said that Dr Qadeer rendered invaluable services to the nation. He prayed to Allah to have mercy on him and grant patience to his heirs.

PML-N President and opposition leader in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif in his condolence message showed his heart-felt grievances over the demise of Dr AQ Khan.
He said the death of the founder of Pakistan atomic programme was a national loss and called upon the government to announce the national mourning in his honour.
Dr Qadeer was a great name in Pakistan’s proud history and struggle who made Pakistan’s security and defence impregnable. The nation would always remain indebted to him, he added.
In his reaction, Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid bestowed his praise on the scientist. He said that all necessary arrangements were taken to save Dr Qadeer's life.
When asked about the nuclear scientist's funeral, Rashid refused to comment, saying that he would speak on the matter later.
Later, the minister chaired a meeting at Islamabad Commissioner’s office to review security arrangements for funeral and burial of Dr AQ Khan at Faisal Mosque.
While expressing his grief over Dr AQ Khan death, Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar prayed for his soul and paid tribute to the nuclear scientist by saying that he played a key role in making Pakistan invincible.
Defence Minister Parvez Khattak said he was deeply grieved over the news of Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan passing, adding that "Pakistan will forever honour his services to the nation".
