The Punjab government has failed to release the admission policy for medical and dental colleges, even though more than two weeks have passed since the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) was held on September 22.
According to sources, it was a common practice in previous years to release the admission policy prior to the MDCAT examination, enabling a smoother admissions process.
However, this year, the process has been stalled, leaving students in a state of uncertainty.
Thousands of aspiring students who took the test are still waiting anxiously for the admissions policy to be announced, as no official update has been provided so far.
In addition to the delay in releasing the policy, the provincial government has yet to finalize its review of various quotas for medical and dental college admissions, further complicating the situation.
The absence of a formal admission policy has prevented medical and dental colleges from starting the admissions process, exacerbating concerns among students and their parents.
When contacted the officials of the Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department of the Punjab government, they held that the department is working diligently to finalize and release the admission policy soon.
Nonetheless, the prolonged delay has raised questions about the government's handling of this crucial issue, which directly impacts the future of thousands of students.
