Two girls drown in Khairpur as flood victims boat capsized

Two girls drowned in a boat sinking incident near Jo Goth area of Khairpur while 18 others were rescued in an operation led by local people, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

Local residents led the rescue operation on their own and rescued 18 people men, women and children from boat carrying flood victims.

The Deputy Commissioner Khairpur arrived at the scene after five hours, the TV channel reported. Later, the Deputy Commissioner Khairpur said the unfortunate incident took place when the boat did not maintain balance.

Philanthropists are also coming forward and helping the poor people in Sindh. PPP media cell tweeted that a businessman Asif Memon presented Rs5m to PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
