Japan to provide $9.9m grant for flood victims, mothers, & childcare

The government of Japan will provide a $9.91 million grant for flood victims and mothers and childcare of Khyber Pukhtonkhwa (KP) province of Pakistan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
A spokesman of the economic division said that during a ceremony, Secretary of Economic Affairs Dr. Kazim Niaz and acting ambassador of Japan in Pakistan Tarashi Kurai signed the agreement on behalf of the Japanese government.
The spokesman further said that this grant will be provided through a Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Earlier on December 12, 2024, Japan has donated $3.1 million to eradicate polio in Pakistan and ensure millions of children remain safe from the crippling disease, the Pakistan Polio Programme, as Islamabad desperately looks to grapple with an alarming surge in cases of the infection this year.
Pakistan, along with neighbouring Afghanistan, remains the last polio-endemic country in the world. The country has so far reported 63 cases of the infection this year.
