The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Saturday conveyed to the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) that its request for the formation of a judicial commission to probe May 9 incidents of violence could not be considered, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

In a letter written to the KP government on behalf of PHC Chief Justice (CJ) Ishtiaq Ibrahim, the high court registrar said that on July 26, the provincial government had requested for the formation of a judicial commission through Advocate General (AG) Shah Faisal Khel in the light of the provincial cabinet's decision on June 27.

However, it was not authorized to make the request, the registrar said, adding “This also constitutes the violation of the provincial government’s Rules of Business of 1985.”

Therefore, the registrar, said the request could not be considered.

A few days earlier, the Peshawar High Court (PHC) had received a letter from the KP government to form a judicial commission on the May 9 riots.

The provincial government had requested the PHC to nominate judges for the commission as per the law.
