Pakistan People’s Party’s senior leadership has contacted the Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) in a bid to stop the latter from holding a sit-in in Karachi scheduled for February 12 at Fawara Chowk, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

The contact was made by PPP late on Friday night.

Sources told 24NewsHD TV channel that Sindh Governor has become active to patch things up between the PPP and the MQM-P. After contacts made by Sindh Governor with the PPP, provincial ministers are also trying to persuade MQM-P. During the late night contact, both parties discussed different affairs relating to preventing MQM-P from holding sit-in.

Sources said MQM-P has asked the PPP to enhance number of union councils by 53. The people’s party has requested the Muttahida Qaumi Movement to put off its sit-in scheduled for Feb 12 (Sunday).

In this regard, the PPP has given assurance to MQM-P that all its reservations will be addressed today.

After acceptance of its demands by the PPP, the MQM-P will likely defer its scheduled sit-in on Feb 12.
