Punjab govt allocates Rs5 million aid to deserving artists

The Punjab government has announced to distribution of Rs.50 lakhs to the deserving artists of the industry, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
In the 20th meeting of the Artists Support Fund Committee held under the chairmanship of Provincial Minister for Information and Culture Amir Mir, the decision was made to distribute Rs.50 lac to deserving Pakistani artists.
According to sources, the decision was made to provide a major relief to the needy artists in the industry.
“Along with art, the welfare and well-being of artists are also important”, said the Information Minister.
During the meeting, Amir Mir said artists play the most important role in keeping society alive.
Moreover, he also simplified the way of fund distribution among the artists as they can now receive the money from jazz cash and Mobi Cash apart from the banks.
Following the rising inflation, the stipend of needy artists and the amount allocated for the widows of artists has also been increased, said Amir Mir.
Furthermore, it has been decided to deliver the funds to the artists in January.
Secretary of Information and Culture Daniyal Gilani attended the meeting whereas the Additional Secretary of Culture Tariq Basra, Sohail Waraich, Rashid Mehmood, actress Nasho, and others were also present.
