Bad news for the people wishing to buy new cellphones as there is a likelihood of the gadget getting expensive in the budget for the next financial year, 2024-25, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

24News TV channel has learnt that not only there is a proposal to levy federal excise duty but also 25 per cent general sales tax (GST) on cellphones.

On the other hand, rejecting the proposed taxation, Electronic Dealers Rizwan Irfan has said that this will lead to an increase in the prices of cellphones, which ultimately will have an impact on the business.

A similar reaction has been given by other electronic dealers.
