Two new polio cases emerged in the country on Wednesday, raising the questions about the effectiveness of the government plan to eradicate the crippling disease from Pakistan. It means that Pakistan has 27 new cases so far this year.
One of the affected children is a three-year-old girl from Jandola tehsil of Tank, meaning that the total number of polio cases reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the current year now stands at 13.
On the other hand, another two-year girl is reported to be a polio patient in Zhob, Balochistan, after which the number of new cases in the province has climbed to six since January 1.
It is reported that the girl had not been exposed to polio vaccination, as the parents avoided the process.
Meanwhile, seven new polio cases have so far been reported in Sindh and one in Punjab.
