PTI Secretary-General Omar Ayub Khan on Saturday issued a show-cause notice to the party’s fiery leader Sher Afzal Marwat for issuing irresponsible statements, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Directing Marwat to submit his reply within three days, Omar told him that the statements he had issued caused damage to the party’s image. “Satisfy us or else disciplinary action will be taken against you,” read the notice.

It is no secret that the statements made by the PTI leader from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) have caused embarrassment to the party on several occasions.

And that was what prompted the former prime minister and the PTI founder Imran Khan to order the removal of Marwat from the party’s core and political committees two days ago.

While talking to the media outside the Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, Omar Ayub confirmed the development, adding that the former premier had also directed that a show-cause notice be issued to him for making controversial statements.

He said that the statements made by the PTI leader had damaged the party’s relations with Saudi Arabia. “Imran has told me that he has personal relations with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman,” he told reporters.

Omar said Marwat had been warned multiple times against violating the party policy, but in vain.
