The convener of the special Senate committee investigating the matter of leaked video of PTI Senator Azam Swati has rued that the latter is not attending the meetings of the panel which has been formed to help the senator, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The Senate panel held its second meeting on Friday under the chair of its convener Maulana Abdul Gafoor Haideri.

Interior Ministry Additional Secretary Momin Agha, FIA DG Mohsin Butt and FIA Director Cybercrime Waqar Uddin participated in the meeting.

While addressing the meeting, Maulana Haideri said that Swati levelled allegations on responsible persons and Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani.

Senator Swati is also part of this august house, the convener said adding that during our last meeting, we appointed four respectable senators to hold a meeting with Swati.

Maulana Haideri requested Swati to come to attend panel’s meeting and also bring evidence in support of his allegations.

“Swati skipped first meeting of the Senate panel and he didn’t show up even today. This is a powerful committee of the upper house which wants to help the senator,” Maulana Haideri added.

During the meeting, FIA DG Mohsin Butt briefed the meeting that they were directed by the interior ministry to hold an inquiry into the incident of leaked video of Senator Swati.

Then we directed the cybercrime team to investigate the videos being run on social media, he said adding that the cybercrime reported back that these videos were fake.

The FIA DG further said that the affected person did not personally ask us to hold an inquiry into the leaked videos.
