Anticipating a reaction from the student organizations, Punjab University Chairman Hall Council and Director Students Affairs Prof Dr Muhammad Shafiq resigned his post, reported 24NewsHD TV channel
It is believed that the resignation is the result of tension prevailing in the university due to an incident of clash between student groups that occurred the day before yesterday. The two groups Islami Jamiat Talba and Pakhtun Student Council scuffled over a miner issue. The students pelted stones at each other, leaving some of the students injured.
As a result of this, the university administration filed an application against 24 students twelve of each of the groups involved in the quarrel at the concerned police station.
The situation is likely to worsen after the FIR is registered against the students. Therefore, Dr Shafiq resigned from both posts citing personal engagement.
