Car with 108 e-challans impounded in Lahore

Tightening the noose around e-challan defaulters for violating traffic rules, Lahore traffic police has impounded a car for messing with traffic rules 108 times carrying Rs51,800 fine, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
According to City Traffic Officer (CTO) Amara Athar the car driver violated the traffic signal 80 times, lane line 19 times and seat belt nine times.
The CTO warned that now the citizens have to violate the traffic rules carefully as teams are present on important roads including Mall Road, Jail Road, Main Boulevard Gulbarg, Ferozepur Road and Wahdat Road.
E-challan defaulting vehicle owners cannot benefit from police services, Amara Athar said.
The CTO further warned that in case of non-payment of e-challan, driving licence, character certificate, verification and other 14 facilities will not be available.
Safe City Punjab, police service centers and driving license issuance management system were integrated.
Amara Athar said that crackdown continued against those tampering with vehicle number plates to avoid e-challan.
Action is also ordered against those who obscure the numbers on the number plates of the vehicle.
Citizens have to respect the traffic rules for normal traffic, Amara Athar said.
The CTO further said that traffic load management, monitoring and surveillance are being ensured with the help of cameras.
Maximum use of Safe City is being achieved for best traffic management, Amara Athar said.
