Over 2,21,000 e-challans issued in Lahore number plate crackdown

Chief Traffic Police Officer (CTPO) Lahore Ammara Ather on Tuesday directed to expedite the on-going crackdown against vehicles plying on roads sans number plates to avoid e-challans, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported.
According to details, Lahore traffic police issued 2,21,000 challan tickets to vehicles who were plying on roads without number plates.
She said that heavy fines will be imposed on vehicles who were plying roads without displaying “Applied For” non-identified and bogus number plates.
Ammara Ather said that lot of drivers used to display black sheets on number plates to skip e-challan. She further said that no one will be allowed to display fancy number plates on motorcycle and vehicles.
Ammara Ather said that cases will be registered against owners of vehicles plying on roads with bogus number plates.
She assured that no action will be taken against owners of legal vehicles, and if any citizen applied for number plates, then he or she must keep the excise slip with them.
She said that these measures will definitely discourage owners of the non-duty-paid or illegal vehicles.
