The meeting of Council of Common Interest (CCI) chaired by the Prime Minister Imran Khan concluded that approved the release of the 2017 census results amid the dissenting note of the Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. 

According to TV channel, the Sindh Chief Minister expressed reservations over the results of the 2017 census and wrote a dissenting note on it. 

Spokesperson Sindh government Murtaza Wahab Saddique said, “Despite reservations shown by CM Sindh, CCI has approved the Census Results. CM Sindh has dissented with the view of CCI and has submitted a dissenting note. #SindhGovt in pursuance of Article 154(7) of the Constitution will take the matter to Parliament.”

Planning Minister Asad Umar said that without wasting any time the country is going to conduct the next census adopting the best international and fair practices amid the participation of civil society. 

“We are confident that the 18-month exercise for the next census will be started by this September that will be completed in 2023.”

Asad Umar addressing to a press conference said the decision to release the results of the census was taken by a majority of seven members of the CCI meeting. 

“Chief ministers of Balochistan, Punjab, KP voted in favour but Sindh CM voted against the census release decision,” Asad Umar said.
