Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Marriyum Aurangzeb said on Sunday that the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government formed in 2018 was not only ‘incompetent’ but ‘corrupt’ as well, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
She claimed that the cases made against Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly (NA) and PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif were all false and fabricated.
“Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly and Shehbaz’s son Hamza Shehbaz was kept in jail for 22 months without any reason. Party Vice President Maryam Nawaz was sent to the jail too,” she said, and added that while on one hand, every other day ‘the selected’ Prime Minister Imran Khan vowed to get more tough on his political opponents, on the other hand he remained tightlipped and did not utter a word whenever petrol, sugar and other scandals surfaced in his tenure. “I ask ‘the selected’ to stop this ‘selective’ accountability,” she demanded.
Marriyum said the prime minister had directed his special assistant Shahzad Akbar not to spare Shehbaz Sharif. “There were special instructions from him to Shahzad to implicate PML-N president in whatever case he liked,” she said, and added this was because Imran Khan Niazi feared that if Shahbaz remained out of prison, he would continue to expose his government’s weaknesses.
PML-N leader said that even the courts had exonerated the PML-N president of corruption charges. “The verdict that came from London is the case in point,” she added.
At a time, Marriyum went to add, when prices of sugar, wheat flour and other items of essential use were excessively high, ‘the selected’ prime minister’ was only interested in targeting Shehbaz and his family members.
