Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader Khawaja Saad Rafique was lucky to receive good news from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) which has targeted almost every top League leader so far.
The NAB has decided to close an inquiry into the purchase of locomotives on exorbitant price against the PML-N leader and the former railway minister, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday, quoting sources.
The investigation team of the NAB Lahore director general has sent a report to the NAB chairman recommending closing the inquiry.
According to the sources, the NAB chairman will give final approval to the inquiry closure.
The sources said Saad Rafique was facing charges of buying the 4500 locomotives at excessive rates.
The complainant was of the view that the Pakistan Railways was not in need of more than 20 locomotives but Saad Rafique gave it a go-ahead.
Saad Rafique had not responded to any query regarding the inquiry.
Earlier, the NAB had decided to investigate Saad Rafique over the purchase of 55 railway engines at exorbitant rates.
According to reports, the train engines which were bought by India at the cost of Rs250 million, Saad Rafique purchased the same at the price of Rs400 million.
