A poor vendor hit hard by the lockdown robbed his own landlord of cash in Gujranwala, police said on Saturday.
Usman, who is a vendor, wore a burqa and robbed his landlord of Rs39,000 with the help of a sharp-edged weapon in Civil Lines Police precincts, investigators said.
They said Usman committed the crime because he was finding it difficult to make both ends meet after the lockdown imposed by the government to curb the spread of coronavirus.
According to Satellite Town DSP Imran Abbas Chadhr, lawmen showed sympathy with Usman and paid the owner his lost money, but also registered a case against Usman because the law will take its course.
