The administration is on high alert as the water level in River Sutlej at Arifwala that had been continuously rising for the last several days has now spilled over into nearby fields, inundating crops sown over several acres of land, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

The situation has been exacerbated by the release of water by India into the river.

People living on the river’s embankments have been advised to shift to safer places as there are fears that adjoining villages such as Tabbi Lal Beg, Basti Kasuria, Blarra Lakhuka may also be flooded.

He ordered that the cattle be also shifted to safer places.

He praised DPO Kasur, the assistant commissioner and the SHO for saving the child from drowning.

CM Naqvi directed that the concerned departments should be kept updated on inflow as well as discharge of water in River Sutlej.

Earlier, he was briefed about the situation in the river.

Commissioner Lahore division Muhammad Ali Randhawa was also present on the occasion.
