Punjab CM Maryam launches Traffic Response Unit in Lahore

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched Traffic Response Unit in Lahore on Wednesday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

On the occasion, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz inspected Traffic Response Unit bikes, talked to warden and inquired about training and other issues.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also observed the message through public address in case of traffic jam.

After launching the traffic response unit, a special meeting on traffic management was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz set a deadline to improve traffic flow in Lahore.

The meeting decided to remove carriages obstructing traffic flow while Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz directed to provide alternative place for carriages.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif further instructed to ensure lane and line discipline in all cases.

The Chief Minister directed to conduct awareness campaign on lane restrictions for rickshaws and motorbikes.

The meeting also reviewed the implementation of Intelligence Traffic Signal Management System in Lahore.

The CM directed for effective and sustainable planning for elimination of encroachments on roads.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif ordered to restore the screens installed for traffic guidance.

In the meeting, City Traffic Officer (CTO) Amara Azhar while giving briefing said that special traffic response unit will reach the traffic jam area on 15 call.

A special unit of 50 heavy bikes and 100 wardens will take immediate action to clear the traffic.

Traffic Response Unit has been given special training for one month.

The traffic response unit was also given a first aid course by Red Crescent.

Public address system and first aid box will also be installed on each motorbike.

The traffic warden will also record through a special camera.

Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, Information Minister Uzma Zahid Bukhari, Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman, IG Dr. Usman Anwar, Commissioner Zaid Bin Maqsood, Deputy Commissioner Rafia Haider, CCPO Bilal Kamiana, TEPA, Safe City and other relevant officials were also present in the meeting.
