Punjab Excise and Taxation Department could not achieve desired results from the vanity plate scheme of favourite numbers, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
According to Excise officers due to lack of advertising campaign and awareness a few people submitted applications in the first three days.
In three days only 91 applications were received from citizens out of which 80 applications were received in platinum and 11 in gold category, the Excise authorities said.
Not a single company submitted an application in the corporate category.
A committee consisting of officers headed by Director Region-C and including one deputy director, one MRA and two DBAs has been formed for the approval of plates.
The committee will check the demand of the number of applications received and give approval for bidding.
The process of receipt of applications has been started on November 11 and the results of the auction of vanity plates will be announced on 26th of November.
On the other hand, the Sindh government collected Rs670 million in the first auction of vanity plates.
In Punjab too, huge revenue is expected from vanity plates but the trend of applications is less, Excise authorities said.
