PPP demands to switch NA Speaker Asad after his support to PM Imran

March 12, 2022 09:20 PM

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Saturday showed a no-confidence in National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser over his statement in favour of Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on the matter of No-Confidence Motion from the Opposition.

According to the 24News HD TV channel, the PPP leaders Nayyer Bukhari, Naveed Qamar and Khursheed Shah showed reservations on the partial role of the Speaker and demanded to change him as he will create hurdles for the Opposition.

Nayyer Bukhari said in a statement that the Speaker of the National Assembly should immediately tender his resignation because he is no more impartial as per the requirement of the custodian of the House to treat treasury and opposition benches equally.

The PPP leader said Speaker Asad Qaiser has consistently come forward as a party by making statements in support of the Prime Minister and against the opposition. He added that there are fears that the speaker will create obstacles in the way of the opposition.

Syed Naveed Qamar said NA Speaker has made himself controversial with his statements so the assembly session must be chaired by a non-controversial and neutral speaker now. He said the Opposition does not trust Asad Qaiser anymore.

Khursheed Shah said PPP has decided to start a movement of removal of Speaker Asad Qaiser and Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar immediately after the No-Confidence against the Prime Minister.
