Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has embarked upon his journey to Pakistan, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Wednesday.
Flanked by his close aides, Nawaz Sharif will land in the homeland on October 21 after visiting Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
Nawaz Sharif delayed his departure to Saudi Arabia as, according to reports, he eagerly waited for Pakistan’s top court decision on the pleas challenging the Supreme Court (Practice and Procedure) Act.
He waited for the verdict for a few minutes at Avenfield House before leaving for Heathrow Airport. In a majority 10-5 decision, the Supreme Court validated the act trimming the power of the chief justice.
The members of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz are all set to accord a warm welcome to Nawaz Sharif.
Nawaz Sharif will reach Islamabad from Dubai on a special plane along with political activists and journalists.
A specially chartered plane has been secured for the travel of Mian Nawaz Sharif from Dubai to Islamabad. This exceptional flight has been symbolically christened the "Hope of Pakistan. The plane is scheduled to touch down at Lahore's airport, just half an hour after its arrival in Islamabad from Dubai.
A procession will then escort him from Allama Iqbal Airport to the Minar-e-Pakistan, where Sharif will address a rally, addressing his supporters and the nation.
