PDMA issues alert as Met Office forecasts heavy rains for KP

The Met Office on Saturday issued an alert about more monsoon rains in different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) during the next few days, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. 

It predicted that Chitral, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Kohistan (Lower and Upper), Torghar, Battagram, Swat, Dir (Lower and Upper), Shangla, Buner, Malakand, Swabi, Peshawar, Nowshera, Mardan and other districts of the province would receive thundershowers due to which landslide was expected in mountainous areas of the KP besides flooding in rain nullahs and streams.    

In the light of this prediction, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) directed the administrations of these districts to ensure the availability of machinery in order to deal with any emergency. 

The Authority also advised the people visiting hill resorts of the province to take precautions and remain posted about the changing weather situation. 

Similarly, it informed that its Emergency Operation Center was fully functional and that people could contact it on the number: 1700 in the event of any unpleasant incident.
