Sher Afzal Marwat has borne the brunt of being an outspoken member of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) as the top brass suspended his membership.
According to 24NewsHD TV channel, the PTI leadership suspended Sher Afzal Marwat’s membership for violating party discipline. PTI General Secretary Omar Ayub issued the notification.
Although the party bigwigs barred Marwat from passing statements, he made several statements criticising the party leaders over the past month. A report said he also passed on “derogatory remarks” about the party founder.
The party will form a four-member committee to review Marwat's conduct in the future. The committee will include Firdous Shamim Naqvi, Rauf Hassan, Dawood Khan Kakar and Brig (r) Musadiq Malik.
Marwat was elected to the National Assembly in the Feb 8 polls. A report cited sources as saying that the PTI leaders met Imran Khan yesterday where the decision was taken.
“During the meeting with Imran Khan, it was agreed that no leader is above the party and all other leaders would face the same fate if they crossed the party line,” they added.
A couple of months ago, Omer removed Marwat from the PTI core and political committees on the order of Imran Khan after he made a controversial statement over the ouster of Imran Khan in April 2022.
