The administrations in Punjab and Sindh continued the ongoing action against the hoarders as more than 140,000 bags of wheat were recovered and godowns were sealed in different cities.
According to 24NewsHD TV channel, the officials raided the rice mills godowns in Nowshera Virkan and Nankana Sahib, seizing 61,400 bags of wheat which had been stocked there.
On the other hand, over 18,000 bags of wheat were also recovered from different areas of Gujrat.
Meanwhile, the administration foiled a smuggling bid by seizing 500 bags of wheat from a truck in Chakwal, which also recovered 500 50-kg bags of flour from a house.
And in Sindh, over 60,000 bags of wheat were recovered from different godowns in Nara tehsil of Khairpur district.
The ongoing crackdown against the hoarders is a result of the government decision to take strict action against them, which came after the country recently witnessed the flour and sugar shortage.
It turned out to be a major political issue as several high-profile figures have been named by the inquiry commission. However, the probe hasn’t been concluded yet, raising the fears that the influential personalities will escape the justice.
