A meeting held to review the law and order situation under the chairmanship of Punjab caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi decided to form a joint investigation team (JIT) to investigate the incidents of vandalism and arson, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The JIT will investigate the incidents and submit a comprehensive report to the government. Actions to bring all the miscreants to justice will be expedited.

All the vandalised locations will be geo-fenced, and cases against the miscreants will be heard in the anti-terrorism courts (ATCs).

The Public Prosecution Department has been directed to ensure speedy trial of all cases. “We will not spare any rioter, and we will not arrest any innocent person,” Mohsen Naqvi pledged.

“Every criminal will be brought to justice with evidence. Those who attacked the military and private properties will not be able to escape punishment,” he added.

“God willing, educational institutions will be opened on May 15. The entire force is on alert to thwart the nefarious intentions of the evil elements,” he stated.

The Punjab inspector general of police (IGP) briefed the meeting about actions taken against the miscreants.

The provincial ministers, police officers and other officials concerned had attended the meeting.
