The Sindh government on Friday announced Rs1 million cash award and recommend her name for a civilian award for bravery for the role she played in the arrest of the main accused involved in the Kashmore gang-rape as well as the safe recovery of five-year-old Alisha, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Addressing a press conference, Murtaza Wahab, who is the provincial government’s spokesperson, said they would also meet the educational expenses for the daughter of ASI Muhammad Bakhsh, as she wanted to excel in higher education.
Earlier, the man involved in the gang-rape of a woman and her five-year-old girl in Kashmore confessed committing the crime, saying they sexually assaulted the victims for two weeks.
Rafique Malik said this in a confessional statement recorded in a video at the lockup of local police station.
Malik had lured the woman, Tabassum Mughal, with false promises of a well-paid job only rape not her but also the little child, Alisha, who is being treated at Chankda Children Hospital in Larkana.
Tabassum, who is from Karachi, was lured to reach Kashmore with the false promise of a well-paid job. When she reached Kashmore, she and her daughter were both sold and raped by four men. "The culprits let me go but kept my daughter in their captivity," she said.
Later, she reached the police who launched efforts to locate the child, finally finding her at a cattle pen.
But it was Muhammad Bakhsh’s daughter who ensured her safe recovery. When contacted, the abductors said they would release Alisha but only if another girl was provided as a guarantee.
At that moment, the police official’s daughter was sent which resulted in Alisha’s release. Later, they were made to come out in an open area where the police arrested the accused.
On the other hand, Dr Siraj Ahmed Soomro said Alisha was out of danger. However, her condition was serious till Wednesday. A wound caused by the torture has been stitched. However, she would be kept at the Chankda Children Hospital in Larkana for another five days so that any complication arising out of the surgery could be avoided.
Earlier, Tabassum demanded that the accused should be hanged in public and said four of them had raped them.
Meanwhile, the initial video showing the victims on social media triggered outpouring of anger, as people were shocked by this heinous act, demanding exemplary punishment for the culprits. As of Thursday afternoon, it was the top trend on Twitter.
