Board refers PIA privatization process to Cabinet committee

Federal Minister for Communication and Privatization Abdul Aleem Khan on Wednesday presided over a meeting of Privatization Commission Board in Islamabad, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The participants of the meeting decided to forward privatization process of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) to Cabinet Committee on Privatization.
During the meeting Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan said that the privatization process of PIA will be held according to rules and regulations and in best national interest.
He said that the Committee will take final decision regarding PIA privatization and privatization of other state-owned-enterprises (SOEs).
Abdul Aleem Khan said that privatization of PIA and other state-owned enterprises will be completed without any further delay and in transparent manner.
He said that he is under-oath to take any decision in best national interest.
The meeting also reviewed privatization of other enterprises.
He said that Privatization Commission Board is not authorized to drop any institution from pre-qualify process.
He said that attractive terms and conditions will be announced for bidding process of any enterprise.
The Board listened all the members of the commission separately.
The Board was informed that Turkish and Singapore Airlines are interested to take part in bidding of PIA.
He said that the current government working on the same framework as adopted tenure of care-taker government.
He said that national interest must be given priority in bidding process.
The Privatisation Board constituted a three-member committee to take part in any bidding process.
