Pakistan Muslim League (PML) General Secretary Senator Kamil Ali Agha and PML Punjab Senior Vice-President Chaudhry Salim Baryaar called on Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Parvez Elahi at his residence in Lahore on Sunday. 

During the meeting views were exchanged about the local council elections, party elections, reorganisation of the PML and the national political situation. 

Senator Kamil Ali Agha and Chaudhry Salim Baryaar briefed PML Punjab President Chaudhry Parvez Elahi about the intra-party elections and reorganization of the party. 

Parvez Elahi said that PML will fully participate in the local bodies elections. Issuing directions regarding local council elections, he said that party workers should be activated in all districts at the lowest level and the services rendered during the PML’s tenure should be highlighted during the door-to-door campaign. 

Parvez Praises Religious Minorities

Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Parvez Elahi has said that Pakistan’s minorities are playing a very important role in promoting Pakistan across the globe. 

He was talking to Roman Catholic Church Bishop of Pakistan Sebastian Francis Shah and Additional Registrar and Director Overseas Cell, Lahore High Court (LHC), Johnson Bernard who called on him at his residence here on Sunday. 

Parvez Elahi said that Pakistan is a peace-loving country, proof of which is the return of Hindu family from India. He said all religions have permission to perform their religious rituals freely. Muslims and minority communities respect each other’s religions, he said. 

Speaking on the occasion, Bishop of Pakistan Sebastian Francis Shah said that as chief minister Parvez announced many incentives for minorities, including return of educational institutions, ownership rights for Christian residents of slums, provision of funds for repair and renovation of churches and establishment of ministry for representation of the minorities for the first time in the Punjab Assembly.
