In a latest development, the Punjab government on Tuesday decided to open the offices of provincial secretaries from tomorrow (April 15).
According to a notification, the offices will open with the minimum staff – those attached with the secretaries – while the rest are supposed to operate online from their homes.
However, it would be up to the secretaries to decide and direct the staff to attend the office daily.
The notification came as the federal government will announce the decision about lockdown in the coming hours.
Earlier, Traders associations around the country have threatened to open their businesses on Wednesday, April 15 (tomorrow).
The heads of traders’ representative bodies at a press conference in Karachi announced the decision to open the markets, saying that the lockdown had destroyed their businesses.
Addressing the media on Tuesday, the Sindh Tajir Mahaz office-bearers said the traders had paid the salaries of thousands of employees for a month but they could not continue doing so, as the sacking of the workers would be the only option left if the markets were not opened.
