The cybercrime wing of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) got a new director on Thursday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Sources privy to the development revealed that Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Humayun Bashir Tarar had been posted as the new director of the FIA cybercrime wing.

DIG Humayun Bashir Tarar belongs to prestigious Police Service of Pakistan (PSP).

His posting as the director of the FIA cybercrime wing comes at a time when the security institutions are expressing concerns over smear campaign on social media against them.

Earlier, Babar Bakht Qureshi was heading the FIA cybercrime wing.
