The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Director General (DG) on Monday ordered all 31 FIA officers and personnel allegedly linked to the Greece boat sinking to appear before him in person for questioning, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The DG said he would himself hold an inquiry into the incident and order action against them, if found guilty. "Those who will not appear will face action," he warned.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has banished 18 of its officials and personnel, who were allegedly linked to the Greece boat tragedy, from Gujrat, Gujranwala and Sialkot districts as a first step in the departmental action against these individuals.
Those whose transfers were notified on Monday were a sub-inspector, three assistant sub-inspectors, 11 head constables and three constables.
The FIA’s Gujranwala Zone had also registered cases against two of its personnel who were deputed at immigration counter at Sialkot airport.
Also on Monday, the Sindh High Court (SHC) accepted the petition filed by the FIA officials nominated in the Greece boat tragedy case, for the immediate hearing of their plea against action against them.
On Saturday, 24News TV channel reported that the government had decided to put the names of 31 Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officials and personnel, who were allegedly linked to the Greece boat tragedy in which several Pakistanis lost their lives, on the passport control list.
Of these 31 FIA inspectors, sub-inspectors and personnel, 19 are deputed at Faisalabad airport, five at Quetta airport, three at Sialkot airport, two at Lahore airport and an equal number at Islamabad airport.
Several Pakistanis lost their lives while dozens went missing after the wooden boat carrying them to Europe capsized off Greece's southern island of Gavdos.
