The prodigal bureaucracy of the cash-strapped Pakistan is enjoying unbelieve perks at the expense of poor tax-paying public as 159 BS-22 officers have been allotted two palatial houses instead of one in Islamabad, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
According to the rules of Federal Government Housing Authority, a government official is authorized to keep only one house. But in 2006, senior officers took two houses on the orders of the prime minister.
24NewsHD has learned that apart from government residences, the bureaucrats have also got plots to construct their own houses.
The officers who are enjoying these perks belong to the District Management Group, foreign ministry, establishment division, auditor general of Pakistan, Pakistan railways, audit and revenue group, Pakistan post, and Pakistan police service.
Most of the plots allotted to the officers were located in F-14, F-15 sector, G-13, Park Road, D-12, I-8 and Green Enclave in Islamabad.
The BS 22 officers have been given two government residences under the government as well as prime minister schemes.
