Two sisters fell prey to ‘honour killing’ in Chakwal town of the Punjab province on Wednesday.

The tragedy took place in Talagang area where accused Habib shot dead his aunts, 30-year-old Kiran and 23-year-old Noreen. The accused is at large.

Chakwal District Police Officer Muhammad bin Ashraf said special squads have launched a hunt for the suspect. He said the law will take its course. He vowed to bring to book the culprits at the earliest.

In Pakistan, 1,000 women are killed to save ‘honour’ each year. Weak prosecution and conservative mindset are described as the reasons for the surge in such heinous crimes.
