The Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board (PCTB) has issued a show-cause notice to the Oxford University Press for publishing an unauthorized book carrying a picture of Malala Yousufzai, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Reportedly, the Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board on Wednesday gave a show-cause notice to the Oxford Publishers for printing an unapproved book which is carrying a picture of Malala Yousafzai. It warned the Oxford Publishers to submit their reply within seven days, otherwise a case would be registered against the publishers.

The Oxford Press has published an unapproved curriculum book of Social Studies of grade 7 which is carrying Malala’s picture along with our national heroes.

In the above-mentioned book, female education activist Malala’s picture could be seen on page 33 along with the pictures of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Allam Iqbal, Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, Liaquat Ali Khan, Begum Rana Liaquat Ali Khan, Abdul Sattar Edhi, and 1965 war hero and recipient of Nishan-i-Haider Maj Aziz Bhatti. Malala’s picture has been placed beside Maj Aziz Bhatti Shaheed.

On Monday, the PCTB raided several book stores and confiscated the book which has already been circulated to different educational institutes. The PCTB stated in its press release yesterday that the Oxford Press had not obtained a No Objection Certificate for the book.
