The federal government has summoned separate sessions of the National Assembly and the Senate for tomorrow as the government is likely to bring key constitutional amendments in the parliament on tomorrow or Sunday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to the sources, the government claimed that the number game in both the Houses has been completed for the constitutional amendment.
The government has decided to increase the retirement age limit of all government employees through the amendment as increase in the tenure is being legalized through the constitutional amendment.
By increasing the upper age limit, the upper limit of the judges of the top court will reach 68 years from the prevalent 65 years.
The appointment of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court will be for a period of three years, Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa will be appointed as the Chief Justice for 3 years after this amendment.
In case of the resignation of the serving Chief Justice, the next judge will also be appointed for 3 years according to seniority principle.
