ASI arrested for handing over sensitive documents to foreign envoy in Islamabad

The Federal Investigation Agency’s counter-terrorism wing on Wednesday arrested an Assistant Sub-Inspector of the Islamabad police for delivering important national documents to a foreign diplomat, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The Islamabad police have confirmed the arrest of their official.
The spokesperson of the federal capital police has informed that a case has been registered against the ASI under the clauses of Official Secrets Act, 1923.
According to the FIR, the ASI sat in a car with the agent of a foreign diplomat from Jinnah Avenue, Blue Area and went to some unknown place and then came back.
The FIA recovered an envelope containing Rs50,000 currency notes, ATM cards and a USB from his possession when it arrested the policeman, the spokesperson said.
He said that the FIA informed the Islamabad police about the arrest of their cop and assured of a fair investigation. The federal capital police also promised to provide every kind of cooperation in the investigation, he concluded.
